Grooming your horse has so many benefits beyond simply improving their appearance. Recommendations
The choice of brushes available is almost too large, so as a simple guide we recommend the following brushes form the core of your grooming set.
Equerry Wash Brush Original or Heavy Duty, depending upon your particular requirements.
Stiff Dandy Brush as stiff as your horse can stand will have the most benefits. If your horse is particularly sensitive then the Petex GRIP brush is a must. If you've ever dropped a brush during grooming then again the GRIP brush should solve your problem.
Long Fill Dandy Brush For a light groom when only a surface clean is required. Gentle and quick.
Body Brush, filled to a high density. Natural animal fibres are always best but are more expensive. The Stablemate range offers an economical option. Vigorous Body Brush grooming not only cleans the coat but helps tone muscles as well.
Goat Hair Body Brush if you're entering any shows where appearance is important this brush will add the finishing touch. Great for pampering your horse too.
Face Brush, tidying up around the face and ears really can make a difference.
Hoof Brush, removing mud from the hooves will assist effectiveness of any oils applied.
If static is a problem then try to stick to natural fibre brushes. By using the correct brush for each different specific task your grooming efforts will be more efficient. As with all products there are some very cheap products on the market; these tend not to use the same quality of materials as Vale Brothers resulting in poor results and the need to replace often. Vale Brothers brushes, Equerry, Stablemates and GRIP, offer excellent value for money - insist on the best.
Grooming isn't a chore, your horse enjoys it, use the time to build your relationship with your horse.
